Aledo City Hall and Community Center
The
Aledo Community Center landscaping was started in 1997 as a 4-H project
with Gay Larson as horticulture advisor. Today, it is a Parker
County Master Gardener Project and plants are added as they are received.
It is composed of donated annuals, perennials and shrubs plus a small
budget.
The Aledo City Hall, which is across the street from the Community Center,
is also a PCMGA project started in 1998. There is an adequate budget
for this project provided by the city of Aledo, so many beds have been
planned and installed. To date, there are 2 large berms, 3 drought
tolerant beds, a rustic bridge over what is referred to as "Crawdad
Creek," many new shrubs and trees, and a letter "A" planted in annuals
each season by the front door. Additionally a shade bed is in
the planning stages.

Neil Collins Memorial Rose Garden

2nd Place - 2006 Texas Master Gardener Awards
The city of Aledo has a beautiful rose
garden. The Parker County Master Gardeners worked
diligently for many months preparing the site around the flag pole
in front of the city hall. The garden is a memorial to Neil Collins,
an Aledo native and founding member of Parker County Master Garden
Association. read
