Weatherford Public Library Literary Garden
1014 Charles St Map
Weatherford, TX 76086

The Parker County Master Gardeners with Dale Fleeger, director of the Weatherford Public Library and Scott Fairman, assistant director of Parks and Recreation for the city of Weatherford have created a Literary Garden on the library grounds.

The Bluebonnet Bee quitters, who meet regularly at the library, provided the initial funding for the garden project. They created and raffled a quilt to fund the special literary garden. One of the theme beds honors them with a “Grandmother’s Fan” motif. Other theme beds in the Phase One garden are Shakespeare, Children’s Literature, Texas Literature and herbs. All plants in this garden can be found in fiction and non-fiction books in the Weatherford Public Library.

Phase Two will be an entertainment pod for various cultural pursuits such as music, art, storytelling and live performances.

Phase Three garden beds will mirror the gardens of Phase One with different themes, such as Heirlooms, Biographies, American Literature and Poetry.

Readers will be able to find plants mentioned within the books they read planted in the garden’s beds and we hope readers will share their knowledge of plants and flowers with the Masters Gardeners as they read books from the library.

However, the main goal of this endeavor is that all visitors, both young and old, will enjoy the beauty, knowledge and enjoyment of this Literary Garden.
